Let me start off by saying that I have a ghost that lives at my house. I first "met" him/her about a week after watching the movie "Hollow Man" when it first came out on DVD, so I ended up calling this ghost by the name "Kevin" in honor of the star in that movie, Kevin Bacon. 

 I haven't actually seen Kevin, but have instances that we said were caused by Kevin.  Things like the VCR turning back on as we were going upstairs. The VCR turned itself back on and PLAY was pressed. We told Kevin that we were tired and going upstairs and that he should go to bed and we'd finish the movie the next day.  I've smelled cigarette smoke in the apartment that we chalked up to him as well.  Occassionally we'll see the dog and cat looking at someone or something and whatever it is is moving as seen by their heads both turning at the same speed and looking at the same thing that I've never seen. We'll hear someone going up or coming down the stairs but all humans and animals are in the living room.  We just say that Kevin must be going up to bed.  But, as I've said, I've never actually met Kevin or seen him.

Way back when, I told Kevin why I gave him/her that name and have already apologized if it's the wrong name or gender.  I told him that I would use that name and pronoun until I had a reason to change it.  He needs to tell me his name and I'll change it. Well, I may have to change my name and pronouns for Kevin. Here's why...

I went up to bed last night. I've been sleeping in the front bedroom since my girlfriend and I broke up in January. Occasionally I will sleep in her room when she invites me.  Especially when it's as hot as it's been lately. (I have no a/c in my room. That was in her room...the room we used to share) So, anyway, last night she invites me to sleep in her room since I'm going on vacation the next day and won't see her for a whole week.

I turned off my light at 11:11 pm and put my book up. I had been laying in bed tossing for about a half hour. I kept looking at the clock and was contemplating getting up and going into my room and reading some more. It was around 11:45 pm. I had my eyes closed but noticed a change in light/dark. I opened my eyes and saw a woman standing beside the bed. Definitely not someone from "this world." She was translucent. There was no real colors, just simply shades of light and dark. She had a beautiful smile. (Let me just say that I tend to be on the paranoid side and never EVER watch horror/spooky/suspense movies due to the nightmares that inevitably follow. I get spooked easily and it lingers, however...) I wasn't a bit scared. I almost felt "safe" in her presence. Her hair was just  past shoulder length. I think I wasn't scared because of that smile. It was so peaceful.

I was laying on my left side and noticed that when I looked at the clock that all the numbers were blurred because she, or rather her clothing, was in front of the clock. I could still see the orange coloring from the illumination but not any of the numbers. Anyway, I pulled my left hand out from under my pillow and held it out in her direction. She raised her right hand and placed her fingertips to mine. I could FEEL it tingling. It made the hair on the back of my neck stick up and I remember shivering.  It was surreal. I felt loved and protected even though I didn't recognize her. It was the oddest sensation. Like I said, I get spooked easily and can be almost paranoid after watching a spooky movie, but I never felt that way with her at all. I closed my eyes a little longer and when I opened my eyes she was gone. 

I wish I'd asked her what her name is. I hate to think I'm calling someone by the wrong name, but I think she will forgive me for this. I occassionally do call her Kevina. I think she'll forgive me for this as well.

So, tell me what you think.  Was I dreaming even though I don't think I'd gone to sleep. Maybe it was more of a daydream type of thing, but I don't think it was.  Was it a spirit? A ghost? Or something else?
